Last year: As I pointed out, "Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise."
Well, that was quick. After telling us that we'd be consolidating our offices "within thirty days" we got e-mail yesterday afternoon telling us that tomorrow is the day. So I'll probably spend a good portion of today sorting through all my stuff and getting rid of about half of it - because tomorrow, I have to move everything that's left.
Our manager came by yesterday and offered Random and I a couple of choices. We could share an office, or we could each have our own office - but if we got our own offices, then we'd eventually have to either share them with new people, or move back in with each other when we got enough new people to need the space. We decided that we'd rather stick with each other than take our chances with people we've never met, and that since we both hate moving, we'll just move right into the office together. We picked the larger of the two offices, of course.
We immediately walked over to look the office over. We decided who would get which desk, how we were going to re-arrange the bookcases and filing cabinets, and generally started thinking about settling in. We're going to miss our window and the huge space of our current office, but we won't have to share with a third. That's a big relief to me, because the new guy kindof gets on my nerves.
I tried to exercise yesterday; I really did. It was a beautiful day, and I called to see if I could borrow Kris' bike for a bit, but they were on their way out the door as I called. And while I have a key to their house, I think I'd need help getting the bike down from its rack, and I'd certainly need help putting it away. Alas.
Maybe what I need to do is see if they'll let me borrow the bike for a week or so.
(Maybe what I need to do is get one of my own.)
