Hm. Eh. Ur. Mm.

And other two-letter words designed to delight and amaze. For whatever reason, despite being too tired to even sit up, I couldn't get to sleep last night. Every ten or fifteen minutes, I'd turn over and look at the clock, hoping it would have been longer than ten or fifteen minutes. I finally dragged myself out of bed at 1:45, when the cat decided he really needed to be in the garage, and while I was downstairs anyway, I took some Tylenol PM. That did the trick, but the end result is that I only got about four and a half hours of sleep last night.

I know some of you (and you know who you are) are just great if you can manage to get three or four hours of sleep - maybe not for several nights running, but for one day, anyway. Not me. I'm an eight-hour-a-night kind of person. I can get by on six hours of sleep if I have to, but if I have to do that more than two or three nights in a row, I get pretty grumpy.

This morning, I don't even have the energy to be grumpy. All I can do is grunt. Thus the two-letter words. Sure, it's callow conversation, but it's about all I'm up for today. Thank goodness typing doesn't require much more in the way of effort, or you wouldn't be reading this.

And tonight's the Hall, so I don't anticipate being any better rested tomorrow. Coffee is my friend.

I managed not to think about work too much over the weekend, which is good because Friday afternoon I was given the go on a relatively big change. It won't be hard to do, but that's not the point. The point is that since we're technically supposed to be up and running by the end of this week, it's a little late to be making major changes!!!

Ahem. What we did instead was have Matt's 7th Sea game, which was fun even if we didn't get anything accomplished because we kept wandering off and getting distracted. And Sunday, we drove into campus so Matt could play Ultimate Frisbee and I could go bike riding - in the rain.

(And, quite naturally, as soon as we got home, the rain stopped.) But I enjoyed it anyway. I rode somewhere between two and a half and three miles, though going through campus to get back to the Frisbee field was a mistake - I wound up riding right through a bunch of runners warming up for a race of some sort. Not a single one of them noticed me, even when I was riding almost straight towards them, until I was almost on top of them.

They were over-focused and rude over at the Frisbee field, too - the race started nearby, and several times they walked right through the field, clearly marked by cones, to get to the starting point. Though they weren't as bad as the dork who led his dogs into the end zone to go to the bathroom. Sheesh.

Anyhow, it was fun. Colonial Williamsburg is a good place to go bike riding; most of it is pretty flat, so I don't have to contend with the hills and such that are in my neighborhood. (I know, most of them aren't very big hills, but I'm a beginner; every hill is Mount Everest to my untrained legs.) Also, CW has nicer scenery than my neighborhood. Yesterday, the rain was keeping most of the tourists at bay as well - though bits of it were still crowded, since I was there just as church was letting out.

I did stop at the candy store to ask whether they had any of the Harry Potter jelly bellies, but was told that because of licensing issues, they didn't. They were nice enough to suggest some other places to try, though.

I managed another stripe on a placemat over the weekend, too - each placemat is made of four stripes. Boy, it's a good thing no one is depending on my crocheting speed.

Okay, this is even more disjointed than it started out. I'd better go find that coffee...
