Another night, another few hours of sleep deprivation.
Well, it's not that bad. I even got to sleep shortly after midnight last night, so I got almost six whole hours of sleep. If this keeps up, I might even manage my eight hours by the end of the week!
I was working away yesterday, and felt a twinge of pain at the base of my pinky finger. I looked down at it. Was it... slightly discolored? I poked at it. Ow! It hadn't been painful to the touch before. I looked more carefully. the area between my knuckles was swollen, and the pain was spreading.
Well, damn. What the heck could've caused that? I mean, I'd even started taping it again...
Except for Sunday, when, bike riding in the rain, the tape had gotten wet and fallen off. Um. Oops.
So it seems that whatever was damaged before is damaged even worse now. I've gone back to taping it relatively tightly, which makes it a pain to type - but without the tape, it's a pain to do much of anything, really. I have yet another doctor's appointment on Wednesday, though I don't suppose he's going to do anything but confirm that I made things worse and tell me to keep taping it.
But maybe if I'm lucky, I'll be able to give me a timeframe for this healing.
I had a fun time on the Meade Hall last night. Though we had a little problem right at the beginning - apparently the IRC server we meet on has a connection limit of 10. It hasn't been a problem before, but last night, no fewer than three of us were preparing to play two characters at once. I lucked out, though - K.T. and Jeff both decided their extra characters weren't necessary before I could decide which of mine I wanted to play. Which is good, because I had really wanted to accomplish certain things with both of them.
(Which is not to say K.T. and Jeff didn't, also. Thanks, guys!) Hopefully, before next week, we'll talk Jeremy into raising the connection limit a little. To twenty or so, maybe. It happens pretty frequently that at least one person will be logged in twice.
Anyway, I had fun. My new character is a shameless flirt - actually, I take that back. He's extremely proud of his skill at flirting. And I got several compliments on his accent. Or rather, the speech patterns that I'm using to convey the information that he doesn't know the language very well yet. Eventually, he'll learn the language and he'll talk a little less strangely. Which is almost too bad; the funny speech is part of his charm.
I haven't quite decided whether he'll become a regular character or not yet. I suppose it will depend on how he plays for the next few sessions. But it's fun. (Though I wonder - what is it about the Hall? Half of us have characters of the opposite gender...)
I came home yesterday afternoon to a dug-up flower bed. It wasn't too bad, but it looks like maybe three or four crocus plants were destroyed. What is it with our neighbors that they can't keep their damn dogs out of other peoples' yards?
If anyone out there has any ideas, short of shooting the dogs, of how to keep them (and other animals, for that matter) out of my garden, I'd really appreciate it. I'm going to be extremely pissed if some damn mutt deprives me of my tomatoes this summer, and it would seem silly to put a fence around my pathetic one-row garden.
(And you thought the boring part was over, didn't you?)
