Last year: "I am Slug-Woman!"
Welcome to the last day of February. About time, don't you think?
I actually went to bed last night at about 9:30. If I didn't like to read in bed so much, I might've actually gone to sleep at a reasonable hour. Instead, I put my book away at 10:30, and got to sleep around 11 or 11:30. Argh.
I can't decide what kind of mood I'm in today, but I'm beginning to suspect it's a bad - or at least irritable - one. The beeping in the server room is grating on my nerves more than usual, and the music playing on the PowerBook is doing a worse job than usual of drowning it out. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised; this kind of easily-irritated mood is consistent with not getting enough sleep.
Maybe if I'm lucky, Mike will come in early enough that I can get a cup of coffee from him (only he knows how to operate his weird coffee pot, and the office coffee tastes like watery dirt) before I have to leave for my doctor's appointment.
I hope the doctor actually tells me something useful. This "shooting in the dark" theory of medicine he's been using has been for the birds. What I'd really like is a splint I can use during the day, when I do a lot of typing and other activities that could aggravate the problem, and then at night I can tape it, giving it a little movement and preventing it from getting too stiff.
Whether he'll listen to me at all, I have no idea.
Maybe I should cut this entry short, or you're all just going to think I'm the whiniest bitch ever to post HTML. Maybe I'll go work on the story I'm writing. I'll work on the dramatic, tragic bit, and then I'll be introspective and sad instead of simply grumpy.
What's that? No, none of it is funny. At least, none of it is funny enough to actually put me in a better mood. Do you people have any idea how hard it is to write humor?
Gah. How did that get into my playlist? You know what song I hate? "Sussudio." It's stupid.
Yup. Better run now before you all delete your bookmark files...
12:45pm - update: Egad, how long can one doctor's visit take? The appointment was for 10:45; he walked into the examining room at 11:40. Sheesh. Anyway, since Yeehaw was down all morning, I thought I would update here. The doc thinks that instead of making the original injury worse, I actully injured it a second time. So now instead of having my ring and pinky fingers taped together, I've got my ring and middle fingers taped - a situation which is, I might mention, much harder to type with. Guess I shouldn't have whined so much about the previous arrangement, eh?
He's also concerned about the lack of improvement in the pinky, so he's referred me to an orthopedist for some possible physical therapy. That appointment is next week. And sometime before then, I'll have to go to the hospital - which naturally is in a part of town I don't go through very often - to pick up my x-rays. Ah, well, I guess it could be worse.
