Last year: But next time, I think, I'll remember to do it right, and the leakage will be even less.
I'm back at work today. Not that I'm sniffling any less, but there's only so much time I can justify taking off because I've got allergy problems. I went back on the Claratin yesterday, so hopefully it will kick in within the next couple of days.
I spent yesterday, for the most part, playing video games, napping, and reading. With luck, nothing much will be going on at work today, and I can spend it playing games on my Mac and drinking tea. Tea is my friend. As is Carmex, and Afrin nasal spray. Aleve Cold and Sinus medication - not so much.
Just to tell you how scatterbrained I am when I'm under allergy attack, I decided yesterday to pay the bills that had been collecting on the dining room table. A quiet endeavor requiring little thought. I got the checkbooks out of my purse, divided the bills into piles of "mine" and "ours" (there is no "Matt's" pile, because Matt is diligent about paying his bills as soon as he gets them) and began to write checks.
I wrote out the check for the phone bill, recorded the amount in the register, filled out the return form, stuffed everything in the envelope, and sealed it. I wrote out the check for the power bill, recorded the amount in the register, and realized I'd forgotten to put my latest paycheck in the register. I can never remember how much money I put into the joint account, so I flipped back a page to see the previous entry.
That's when I realized I'd written the checks for the phone and power bills out of my personal account, and not the joint account. I don't even want to think about how messy it would've gotten if I hadn't thought to verify the amount.
I think the part of allergies that I hate most - after that whole "not being able to breathe" thing, of course - is the watering eyes. Have you ever had a sneeze that got stuck halfway up your nose, and your eyes watered while you waited for it to un-stick? My eyes water like that all the time when I'm having an allergy attack. I suppose I should be grateful that they don't turn red, too - otherwise I'd look like I was in constant mourning or something. As it is, it looks like I've just finished watching a very sad movie. I keep having to take off my glasses so I can wipe my eyes.
I know, you really didn't come here to read about my allergy problems. Sorry, gang. 'Sabout all I can think about at the moment. Think happy thoughts for me to get better soon, and maybe tomorrow I'll take a stab at this month's On Display topic.
