Last year: Well, the Hall last night went rather well, I think. At least I had fun.
Gah. I thought the beeping coming from the server room was annoying. Today one of the printers - right across the hall from me - is beeping. Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! (pause) Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Over and over. I went and looked, but I don't see any flashing lights or other indicators to tell me what's wrong. I'm just going to have to wait until someone comes in who knows more about the printers than I do.
My allergies are a little better today. Or at least, they've mostly moved into my throat. So I sound froggy, but at least I can breathe better. And I have hope that my nose will actually stay on my face - yesterday it was in danger of being worn down to a stub with the constant friction of Kleenex.
When I woke up this morning, my first thought was, It's so hot in here... Did I really come down with a fever? But then Matt said something about it being warm, so I knew it wasn't just me. I didn't give it much further thought - I assumed that a warm front had come through in the night along with the rain and wind. Matt got up to feed the cat, and I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth.
Matt came back upstairs and started rummaging through the linen closet. Turns out, the back door had blown open under the force of the wind. The back door opens directly onto the section of wall that houses the thermostat, so that explained why the heat had been running all night. And, of course, it had rained in.
Bah. We had this problem with the front door, too. I think we need to install some deadbolts, if only to keep the doors closed.
Matt watched Fight Club on HBO last night, and because I was in the room, I watched the beginning of it with him. I'd seen previews in the theater and been distinctly unimpressed. A secret club where men go to beat each other up? Oooooookay. Not for me.
But what the previews didn't even hint at was that it was funny. I mean, hilariously funny, in a dark kind of way. I almost fell off my chair laughing, several times.
I was still feeling under the weather from my allergies, so I dragged myself to bed before it was over. But now I want to see how it ends. Time to check that schedule...
I also want to see their film Wit. I really like Emma Thompson's acting, and it looks like a thoughtful and touching story. Bit of a weeper, though.
All right. I'm off to take a sledgehammer to this printer. Y'all have a good day.
