Last year: "You should see the attachments you can get for this thing!"

No clearing of Stuff happened yesterday. I spent some time relaxing after I got home, and then I went bike riding, and then Matt and I went to dinner, and then I went to bed. That was pretty much my entire evening. I did look over the video collection, though, considering how best to pack it away. Alphabetically? By theme? I expect it will be a combination of the two in the end - those movies that fall into a clear theme (Muppet videos, the Red Dwarf collection, anime tapes) will be kept together and labelled as such, while everything else will be filed away alphabetically. What will be hard is deciding which movies to keep out.

I've turned into a complete scatterbrain lately. Or was I like this all along, and just didn't notice it until now? I've been making a lot of appointments lately - doctor, car inspection, dentist, haircut... I made the haircut appointment yesterday morning. The appointment was for yesterday afternoon at 2:30. (The salon is about a block from where I work. Convenient.) How hard is that? I only had to remember the appointment for about five hours.

I had a good morning - I started a project that I was certain would take most of the day, and instead got it finished in about two hours. I was feeling good about myself. I decided I'd spend most of the rest of the day goofing off, and then around 3:30 or so take the finished project to Keith and allow him to marvel at my speed.

So at about 3:15, I checked... 3:15? Wasn't there something I was supposed to... Shit!

I called the salon and told them a little white lie about why I hadn't shown, and rescheduled for today at noon. I'm usually pretty alert around noon, so hopefully when I start to think about it being near lunch time, I'll remember that I've got an appointment.

Of course, I've been going through my magazines looking for a style I like... Oh boy is hair ugly this year! So far I've found exactly one hairstyle that I think is attractive (by which I mean, "would be attractive on me") and relatively low-maintenance. And it'll require at least a permanent, and possibly hair coloring.

No, I'm not doing all that today. Just a trim today to get rid of the split ends. (Like you care. I know.)

I'm going to try this weekend to plant tomatoes again. The three I planted originally are dead and gone. I'm not sure if it was the heat that killed them, or the late frost, or the lousy soil. I'm considering taking a bunch of potting soil and mixing it with the clay before I plant the tomatoes. Does anyone out there know if that's a good or a bad idea?

One thing I'm excited about, though: About ten days ago I re-planted the cucumbers, putting the seeds directly into the ground this time. Yesterday there were about seven little sprouts peeking out of the ground. Surely one or two of them will be strong enough to be worth keeping!

No sign of the re-planted squash yet, but the squash took longer than the cucumbers in the planting tray, too. I'll give it another week before I get worried.

And now that I've bored you all stiff with the trivia of my life, I'll move on. And set an alarm for that hair appointment this time.
