Last year: I spent most of the afternoon giggling like an idiot.

Gah! I forgot the camera! We received a package from Karen yesterday - a somewhat belated anniversary card, and some PunDay celebratory items. Matt took pictures of me opening things. The tiny little knitted sheep finger puppet almost made me fall out of my chair laughing.

But we got her PunDay package off yesterday evening, so she should get it in plenty of time. I can't wait to see what she thinks!

I decided last night that I wanted a salad for lunch today. So this morning I was cutting up the lettuce, and sliced into my thumb. Matt and I have very, very sharp knives. The good news is that such a clean cut will probably heal quickly and without scarring. The bad news is that I managed to cut pretty deep. I bled all over the kitchen and bathroom before I managed to locate a band-aid.

Naturally, I had to change to a fresh band-aid after I'd showered; it's not good to wear a wet band-aid. As Matt helped with the new band-aid, I said, "I guess I get a corner cut off my totin' chip, huh?" Matt looked at me with pity. "Sweetie," he said, not unkindly, "You don't have any corners left."

It looks like someone in our office is having a big meeting with some military folk. I saw them getting set up in the conference room as I came in this morning. Just a few minutes ago, one of the military guys came around to use our photocopier, which is admittedly a piece of junk.

Said person, when his stack of whatever jammed and started feeding badly, started cursing a blue streak and - from the sound of it - kicking and hitting the copier.

Now I have even more respect for the military.

(That was sarcasm, for those of you who didn't catch it right away...)

On my way to the doctor's office yesterday afternoon, I got stuck - not in a traffic jam - but a series of traffic jams. My favorite kinds, too - traffic would come to a complete standstill, then we'd inch along for half a mile or so, then everything would clear up and be fine for a couple of miles, and then it would come to another complete standstill.

BAH.

So I pulled out the cell phone and called the doctor's office to let them know I'd be late. They'd heard of at least one accident that was clogging things up, so they already expected it, but appreciated my calling.

Then, bored, I thought I'd call Kris and say hi. She does that to me from time to random time. But she wasn't answering her phone - probably with a patient - so I left her a message. I thought about calling KT, but thought she was at work until six. (I found out later I was wrong; that she wasn't starting work until today. Oh, well.)

I tried to call Karen and got her answering machine, too.

Boy, I'm dangerous when I'm stuck in traffic with a cell phone.
