Last year: It was still alive, caught up in the stream and trying to swim to safety.

First things first: Monday is a holiday, so the chances of me writing an entry are pretty slim. Just so you know.

This is probably going to be fairly short, since I need to finish and post it in time to prepare for the weekly trip to Richmond/Fort Lee.

So, I went back to the dentist yesterday for my crown. You know, a lot of nervousness could have been avoided if they'd just said, "It's really not much more drilling than for a normal filling." Instead, they kept trying to reassure me that the crown would look and feel just like the original tooth.

It really wasn't much more drilling than for a normal filling. I was still grateful I'd taken in my walkman and headphones; it gave me something to concentrate on when that awful whining noise started.

So it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. In three weeks, I'll go back and they'll take off the temporary crown and put on the permanent one. The dentist tells me that's much faster - only about fifteen minutes or so - and rarely requires any kind of anasthesia.

However, either he slipped with the drill, or I started unconsciously singing along with my walkman and nudged the drill, or I accidently bit myself while it was still numb. My tongue hurts. A lot. Enough so that it's uncomfortable to swallow, chew, or talk.

And I've got a meeting in Fort Lee again today. Joy. Well, I guess I'll let someone else do all the talking this time. Grunting can be pretty expressive, right? Mmm. Mmm? MM-mm. Mm-MM. MMMMMM!

I haven't posted anything to the role-playing site yet, because I'm still writing up a storm and I don't want to break the spell to code HTML. I'll let you know when it goes up.

I'm playing around with the format. I think what I'm going to do is leave the character's histories more or less the way they are, and then whenever I post a story, I'll link to it from whatever the appropriate place is in the history. And I'll use back/forward navigations within the stories themselves, so a reader could, if they wanted, just start with the first story and work forward.

I know. Those of you who aren't bored silly are saying, Who cares? Just post, already!

I have my towel - do you?
