Last year: Matt and I, apparently, are the only people remaining in Williamsburg who still actually buy books.

GRRrrr!I forgot to tell you, this weekend when Matt and I were picking up the comics, this thing we'd ordered came in.

There are a lot of these little soft "plushy" toys out there in Comicbookland, but this is the first one I've ever seen that I really felt compelled to buy. The character (in case you're unfamiliar with comics altogether) is Lobo - one of the meanest, and certainly one of the rudest, bounty hunters in the galaxy. He's ruthless. He's vicious. He's cruel.

But he's so cute! The chest hair is painted on, but the chin bristles are in fact actual bits of string. I could not resist. So I did what I always do in these situations: We bought him with the intention of giving him to someone else.

I won't say who. I don't think the intended recipient reads this journal, but they might. And there's a gift-giving occasion coming up for them soon.

Though the longer this Lobo doll stays in the house, the more tempted I am to keep him.

Well, my supervisor's wife gave birth a few days early - on Monday, in fact. He came in to the office yesterday for about an hour to walk around to everyone he's in charge of and let us know he was going to be out for the rest of the week, and give us what instructions he could.

I finished the bulk of my work for the week in about forty-five minutes yesterday. It left me with plenty of time to continue dorking around with my RPG site. I do have one or two more minor things to do - some e-mail to send, and software to load - but I expect that to take even less time.

(The hell of it is, it won't be long before I'm paying for all this leisure time. I can definitely see some overtime in my future. But there honestly isn't a damned thing I can do right now. There's no point whatsoever in starting to code when the design hasn't been approved.)

I got to bed before one the night before last, and yesterday I was a little tired. I got to bed at 12:30 last night, and today I'm even more tired. Maybe I should go back to staying up until 2:30!

Where's my coffee mug? Coffee understands me...
