Last year: Who knows how many other desperate lime-chip-craving souls were wandering hopelessly around that store?

I'm not going into details, okay? For one reason and another, K.T. had some reason to be a little frantic about the state of her apartment. She'd spent about half the day in hysterics, and Ashby (who quite honestly deserves an astonishingly large return on the karmic boomerang at this point) had been alternating between trying to clean the place and calming K.T. down.

K.T. asked (rather sheepishly and in very small text) if I wouldn't mind coming over at some point to help. I'll say now that I don't think my cleaning services are all she wanted - I think she also wanted someone there whose presence would keep Kevin - who gets angry easily and flamboyantly - from completely jumping off the deep end. But she didn't come out and say it, so I didn't say anything about it, either.

And to be honest, I didn't want to be at work any longer than I had to. So as soon as I could say I'd been there for eight hours, I zipped up and left, changed clothes, and headed down to K.T.'s.

I'd told Matt what I was planning on doing. He'd been planning on going to basketball, and I didn't think he really wanted to skip basketball to help clean K.T.'s apartment, so I told him I was fine going without him.

Well... Between K.T.'s hysterics making it sound worse than it was, and Ashby's dedication, there wasn't much left to do when I got there. I emptied the dishwasher and re-loaded it; wiped down the kitchen counters; helped Ashby scrub some spots off the hallway floor; and swept a little in the living room. Took about an hour and a half.

K.T. decided to take us out to dinner to thank us - which was good, because I was going to suggest going out anyway, because it was plain that she needed to get out. But we had to wait for Kevin, who got off work at 8.

After some poking and fiddling (and trying to call various people I thought might know but who weren't answering their phones), I managed to get my Powerbook connected to their in-house network. Many jokes were made about the geekiness of the situation, but I've been geekier before, so I didn't feel too bad about it. Naturally, we were Halling by the time Kevin got home.

It was nearly eleven by the time we left Don Pablo's. And when I got home, I discovered that Matt was slightly grumpy for not inviting him to join us for dinner - though to be honest, the only reason I hadn't said anything to him about it was because I was pretty sure he wouldn't want to make the drive in his car, in the dark. I guess I was wrong. Note to self: Remember to at least ask next time.

So I defied the gods and went to bed right away, even though I was still practically vibrating from Don Pablo's sopapilla sauce. Because there's never a bad time to snuggle with your sweetie. (Well, okay, there is a bad time, but that wasn't it.

By the way, I've received a number of compliments on yesterday's entry. Thanks, everyone! Be sure to look for more sleep-deprived humor in the near future!
