Last year: It would be, we told each other, an Adventure.
I picked three more tomatoes from my garden yesterday! Whee! I only intended to pick one of them - the big one - but two more popped off into my hand when I went to test their firmness. They two smaller ones aren't quite ripe yet, so they're sitting in the kitchen window, waiting. The big one is in the refrigerator, awaiting the purchase of some bacon and lettuce.
Tomatoes - especially tomatoes fresh from the garden - make me Happy.
When I sat down to log in to my computer this morning, I noticed that Random had written an extremely large "WOOT!!" - in multiple colors - on the whiteboard. I can only hope that means that he had a breakthrough last night and that we'll be making serious progress today.
Because I realized this morning that I have today, Monday, and Tuesday to finish this project. I sure hope my algorithms are good for the logic of this thing, because the mechanics of it are taking forever.
On the other hand, the realization that there are only three more days of work before my vacation makes me Happy.
And if that giant "WOOT!!" on the whiteboard means what I hope it means, then I'll be Happy about that, too.
I finally figured out how to organize my MP3s yesterday so that I could burn them to CDs and have them make sense, more or less. I sat down when I got home yesterday and burned four of the seven CDs. I'd have done all seven, but for some reason, the writer had some trouble with the fourth set - it generated two coasters in a row and left me in severe doubt about the third attempt - so I thought it might be for the best to just let it rest for a while.
In addition to MP3s, I put together a burn to back up all those things that would make me rip my hair out if I lost them in a hard drive crash: Stuff I've written, my webpages, pictures, my Quicken data... I told Matt I made the burn by selecting everything in my "Documents" folder, and then removing the MP3s directory. It came to just under 500 megs, which is rather more than I thought it would be.
Tonight, or maybe over the weekend, I'll burn it to a CD-RW. My hope is to remember to back up everything important once a month. Backups are good. Backups make me Happy.
I was up until after two last night. Karen and I ran a Hall session that ran until about eleven, and it got me very keyed up. So then I dragged Ashby over (kicking and screaming, I'm sure) and we ran until about one. And then we both dragged Karen over again (Please, Br'er Fox, don't throw me in that briar patch!) for a "quickie" that ended in medias res a little after two.
The funny thing is that we'd probably have done more actual Halling if we'd stopped after one of those sub-sessions and picked it up later. But the flow was good, and they'll fit together neatly as a single transcript... And anyway it's always a little iffy, trying to get people together over the weekend.
So I'm pretty tired this morning, but I like Halling, so I'm Happy.
So all in all, I'm pretty Happy today. The fact that it's Friday doesn't hurt. K.T. is supposed to be getting her cane today (we hope), and that's good. I already have an idea of what I want for dinner, and that's pretty impressive.
And best of all, there's a pot of pure Columbian coffee on the other side of the office with my name written all over it. Coffee makes me Happy.
