GAH. They updated the system on my work machine this weekend, like they said they would, and they installed that awful Active Desktop crap. And now all the useful icons I had on my desktop are gone, and I can't figure out how to get them back.
Wait... wait... Yup, it's a Monday all right.
So, if anyone else has done this to themselves, please tell me how to get my icons back. Dammit, I put them there for a reason.
Not going to be a good week. I can tell already.
Oh, there we go. I got my desktop back, thank the gods. I had to log out and log back in. Stupid thing. I'm not going to retract the e-mail I sent to the network admin asking her to come show me how to turn Active Desktop OFF. I want it gone.
And I haven't dared to fire up the new version of Internet Explorer she said she'd be installing.
Right, so... Oh, yeah, the weekend.
It was a fairly good weekend. I stayed up late Friday (Halling, of course), slept in late Saturday. Got to get some gaming done, and we went out to dinner with K.T. and Kevin and bored poor Kevin silly talking about assorted situations on the Hall.
Sunday started out a little irritating - I spent an hour and change on the phone with Apple's tech support, trying to figure out why I couldn't log in to my Apple iDisk, which is where I keep three web sites.
We finally got it fixed, but it felt more than a little unsatisfying since it just spontaneously started working again, rather than making sense. Then, while I was typing up a character sheet for K.T.'s game, I got to listen to Matt curse a lot - he couldn't get his system to recognize the CD burner. Or rather, part of his system recognized it, but the burner software wouldn't.
But in the meantime, Kris' water broke, and they admitted her to the hospital. (The last news we had was from around 6 or so last night, which was that they were going to give her something to speed things along.) But I expect that after work tonight Matt and I will pop over to the hospital to pay our respects and take a few pictures.
Details as soon as possible, I promise!
