It never fails. The radio station I listen to in the car has a soundbite they play when they're about to do the traffic report, that's a honking car horn.

And they usually play it just before they say, "And now, traffic!" And it never fails: I'm always just about to do something involving my blind spot when they play it - backing out of the driveway, changing lanes, turning left...

This is a thing I do not need to deal with early in the morning.

I decided against getting the Chinese-style outfit that looks just like K.T.'s. They didn't have it in any other colors, even. They had another outfit with embroidery on the shoulder that I tried on, but once I got it on, I realized it looked, more than anything, like a Star Fleet uniform. I even had to do the "Picard maneuver" to settle the jacket into place. Um... NO.

But we went to both malls that are in reasonable reach of her apartment, and all three fat-chick clothing stores, and I wound up with six shirts for about $70, which is pretty darned good, even if four of the six are half-sleeved shirts and will be of only limited use until spring.

It probably should have been five shirts, but I simply could not resist the black T with the word "FLIRT" and a pair of lips all done in red and silver glitter. It was on sale for 50% off! How could I refuse??!?

Plans for my birthday party are coming along nicely. We bought the piñata and stuffed it this weekend. The tomatoes on my kitchen window sill are ripening nicely. (I'm going to make homemade red-and-green salsa - and I think I'm going to have to make it this week, or all the green tomatoes will ripen!) The theme for the party is: Fiesta!

I need to buy some additional ingredients for the salsa, and some chips to test it with, of course. I need to find flour tortillas, so I can cut them into pieces and fry them up for sopapillas. And there will be candy from the piñata, of course... And the core rules for the piñata (the rules designed to minimize damage person and property) have been formed.

I need to decide on a starting time. We'll need at least an hour or so of daylight, for the piñata... Maybe make it a dinner party, with a couple of batches of chili?

Obviously, I'm still pondering things. And I guess I should get around to inviting people sometime this week, eh?

My computer is fixed, and on its way back to me! (Well, I hope it's fixed. I really don't know what they're going to do if I continue having problems after this.) Any way, I should get it back some time today or tomorrow.

Hooray!
