Last year: Don't mistake this for a lack of intelligence.
I had two compelling ideas for a story yesterday.
When I got home from work, I started writing about one - just trying to get the general gist of it down before I forgot it. I wrote about a page, which I think was enough to capture the essense of the idea so I could come back to it later.
I seem now to have forgotten the other, which annoys me. I was too tired to keep writing - last weekend was a lot of fun, but not very long on rest, and I've been going to bed fairly late all this week - and so rather than keep writing, I'd curled up on the couch with Matt and taken a nap.
I'm not sure if that helped. I went to bed around 10:30 last night, but didn't fall asleep until nearly 11:30. This morning, I'm a little lightheaded, and easily distracted - it's taken me over twenty minutes just to write these few paragraphs.
It's a little disturbing, since I had been hoping to actually get some work done today. But with this level of concentration, I'll be lucky if I manage to get my spreadsheet opened before ten-thirty.
Today just might be a coffee-day. Even if I have to drink that awful sludge we get here at the office. If I'm no more awake than this by noon, I might take some sick time, go home, and take a long nap.
But on the bright side, I just remembered my other story idea from yesterday. Excuse me while I go jot it down before it disappears again.
Right. Coffee. I'll try to write something with actual relevance and/or life if I ever wake up.
