Last year: I was doing okay with the little blue kobold-things ... but this minotaur-looking thing came out from a blind corner, and before I noticed it I was dead.
I am amused - this time last year, I was playing Diablo.
I played Diablo II for several hours last night. Primarily because my internet access was down. Again. It had come back up around lunchtime - when I got home from work, I was able to check my e-mail and log into instant messenger. Matt came home around five, and checked his mail, too.
Then it went down again.
I am a priestess of... Oh, nevermind. You know.
Big shopping trip this evening. I'm hoping the stores won't be too overly crowded. My current plan is to leave work, stop and pick up some gift certificates on my way down to Newport News, then pick up K.T. and head for the mall, where I have several things to get.
I hope it doesn't take too terribly long. I'm not really a very enthusiastic shopper, and the crowds you encounter this time of year really aren't an inspiration.
Damn it, my ear is popping again. I hate that. It's like there's a water bubble in there that pops every time I breathe in - only it doesn't go away. It's annoying and distracting.
It turns out that I actually have work to do today - shocking, I know. Not that I'm excited about it, since it's yet more testing. And worse; it's in the lab, not my office.
I'm really hoping that, come the new year, I'll be on a new project. Something that involves actually writing code, preferably.
I woke up this morning to the sound of the cat stepping on the alarm clock, and thought, "Gah; I think that dream just made me even more tired." But I couldn't remember the dream.
And like that I had a story fragment - Else woke to the sound of creaking plastic and the notion that her vaguely-remembered and quickly-fading dreams had only tired her further. - and the minimal skeleton of a story to go with it.
I spent the next half hour or so dozing on the idea. I'll let you know if I ever get it out of my head.
