4 January 2002 Ice is great stuff. I appreciate it in my soda or tea, keeping it cold. I love looking at ice sculptures - how elegant! I've never been ice skating, but it looks like fun - and I like to watch figure skating. I'm fascinated by stunts like ice houses or hotels. But ice on the roads, I can do without. It was awfully hard to get out of bed this morning, knowing that I was going to be facing a drive over two inches of slush that had frozen overnight. Ah, well, I'm here now. I'd forgotten, designing the format for the journal this year, to include the "Last Year" link anywhere! Oops! So I put it up in the sidebar, and went back and added the links for the last two days. Just in case the Year Ago link was a favorite feature, or something. I've got a small rash on my left temple, right where my glasses go. How can I be allergic to titanium frames??? And why now, after wearing the damn things for a year and a half??? Though there's no matching rash on the right temple. Maybe - hopefully! - it's a fluke. I put a bandaid over it before I put my glasses on this morning, so hopefully it will heal up and not come back. I guess if I do have to replace my glasses, it won't be an utter tragedy. I lost my clip-on sunglasses several months ago, and haven't gotten around to ordering a new set. We'll see what happens, I suppose. It'll be time for me to see the eye doctor again this summer anyway. Wow. I'm all over the place this morning, mentally speaking. I guess it's a good thing it's Friday. And I realized yesterday that I have not one, not two, but three birthdays to cover this month, and I have not the slightest idea what to get for any of them. The first one is coming up early next week. But I've got the leftovers of a highly successful dinner experiment in my lunchbox, someone brought doughnuts and left them in the office kitchen, and I ran a pretty good adventure (if I do say so myself) last night on the Hall. So it might be a pretty good day, after all. |
