31 January 2002

I went to see The Count of Monte Cristo with K.T. and Kevin last night. My second viewing, their first. We had a good time, and the movie was just as good the second time around. I got to see some details I'd missed the first time around.

I spent most of yesterday morning working diligently on my project, fully intending to slack off and surf all afternoon. So, quite naturally, we lost our internet connection at work around one.

Not that I did any more work. I was determined in my slackitude.

I need to not be slack today, though. My manager is reviewing my work every Friday, so I need to get some work done to show him tomorrow.

And then I have things I should do at home, too.

Like pay the bills that have been patiently collecting for two weeks.

And either open or return the DVD Columbia House sent me that I didn't request.

And put the clean dishes away, and put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. (Though probably not actually run the dishwasher. One person doesn't generate very many dirty dishes.)

And balance the checkbook, which I swore I wouldn't let get behind any more. (Guess how long that lasted.)

I think I have more to do at home than at work, in fact. Maybe I should pack up, go home, and call in sick.

I'd be believed, too - Random was out Monday with the flu; and then he came in Tuesday still pale and shaky. That was a bad idea, and he was out Wednesday again. Whether he'll be in today I have yet to learn. But I think it's pretty plausible that he gave me his flu on Tuesday.

Tempting, tempting... But nah. I'm saving my vacation time for, well, a vacation. Astonishing, I know.

Well, I'd best get on with things. The sooner I get this document updated, the sooner I can slack off again.
