Restaurant service. Matt and I met K.T. and Kevin last night for dinner. K.T. and Kevin each ordered appetizers and entrees; I ordered a side-dish for an appetizer, and an appetizer for an entree; Matt ordered an entree only. Not too confusing.

First mistake: They tried to bring K.T. the wrong appetizer. The waitress apologized and went to place the order for the correct one.

About two minutes later, the entrees showed up.

This has been happening more and more lately, and it drives me crazy. I understand that the restaurant wants to turn over the table, but it happens even when the place is mostly empty. Besides, it doesn't matter. If I order an appetizer, I want to eat it before my entree - and I want my entree to still be warm when I get to it. I think from now on, I will order an appetizer, and then order my entree only when the appetizer arrives. If it means I'm at the table for half an hour longer, tough.

By the time K.T.'s belated appetizer appeared, the waitress had achieved this resigned look. You know the look I mean - the one that says, I'm not getting more than 5% off this table. (We left more than that. Most of what went wrong wasn't her fault, and the food was still good.)

Friday. Thank goodness. I'll have a half-hour meeting this morning on my project, at which my manager will scold me for my two-sentence status report last week, and I'll explain to him that there really wasn't any more to tell, and he'll tell me to put more detail in this week. I'll agree, go back to my desk, and write another two-sentence status report.

And then I'll probably spend the rest of the day dorking around on Neopets. 'Cause I'm a geek like that.

Plans for the weekend... Visit my parents, who are back from Germany. Go to the furniture store with Matt and pick out a coffee table and maybe end tables. Purchase said items. Make a double-batch of cream of reuben soup so I can freeze it for future use. Make cookies - maybe. Visit with K.T. and possibly Colleen. Hall a lot. I think that's about it.

Oh, yeah, and sleep late!

The voices in my head...I managed to pry a bit more out of Dawn and - surprisingly - Dusk yesterday. I spent about an hour working on their origin story (it started as just Dawn's, really, but I think Dusk's is going to get in there sideways). My problem at the moment is where to end it. Does the origin story end with them meeting and becoming partners? Or does it end with their official induction into the thieves' guild? (It wouldn't be an issue, except that the induction could be a standalone story.)
