28 March 2002

I had an astonishingly productive day at work yesterday. I spent two hours of the morning in a design meeting that - primarily because we didn't invite any managers - actually accomplished a great deal. Then I spent a good three hours writing a document describing our system flow. Documentation sucks, but during that process I pinpointed several errors or potential errors in our flowcharts, so it was by no means wasted time.

Today I need to generate some screens for that same document, and the flowcharts for the pieces I'm writing. If I'm as productive today as I was yesterday, I'll feel pretty good about going on vacation next week.

Mmm. Vacation. I am so ready.

Matt told me the other day that he thought he would bring his laptop with him, after all - he wants to work on a story he'd started writing ages ago. I plan to do some writing as well, but if I bring the computer with me, I know I'll never get off the damn thing. I'll take a pad of paper for the writing I want to do.

I imagine I'll go through withdrawal, but I think it will be good for me. Kind of like how, every so often, I'll force myself to go for several days or a week without caffeine. Just to prove to myself that I can. To purge my system.

(Not today, though. I was up until after two last night. I'm going to need caffeine to make it to lunch.)

The voices in my head...Damn me, I'm looking for a new voice.

Carl wants to run a game while we're all down at Nags Head. As long as I still get plenty of time to sit around and watch the waves roll in, I'm good with that. I told him last night that I thought I'd make up a thief/mage.

I know what you're thinking, because Matt smirked at me and said, "Dawn."

I really don't want to play Dawn (or Dusk either, for that matter) for this game. It's just that while flipping through the books and looking at the spells for the purpose of writing stories about them, I had some really nifty ideas.

So now I'm looking for a personality for a new character. But not the Scum.
