29 March 2002

Well, here we are: the last day of work before my vacation. I even got all the work done that I was supposed to do before I left. (Well, it's not done done, but what's left certainly won't take me the rest of today to do.

Tonight Matt and I need to do the laundry, which isn't a big deal because I'm planning on staying up most of the night Halling anyway. And we'll pack everything that can be packed the night before. I figure some time around six or so I'll log out of my computer and go take a shower, and then I'll crawl into bed for a few hours of sleep.

Around eleven or so, I'll get up and get dressed, and we'll finish the packing and pack everything into Matt's car. We'll drive around to the Cube to pick up this week's comics, and then we'll stop at the store for some snacks and sodas for the road, and then we'll be on our way to our vacation!

I don't care what the weather is like. I'm going to walk on the beach and watch the waves roll in and collect shells.

I'm going to sit and read - on the beach, or on the deck, or in the house if the weather is really bad.

I'm going to soak in the hot tub and not think about much of anything.

We'll all sit around and talk. We'll trot out all our histories and bullshit stories and pretend we haven't heard them a thousand times before.

I'm going to work on my neglected crocheting project, or write in a paper journal. (I promise I'll share when I get back).

I'll take dozens of pictures with my digital camera that won't make any sense when I get home.

There's an AD&D game planned - though whether it's just one session or every night is still up in the air, which is fine.

Colleen wants to make a pot roast one day. Matt and I are bringing some of the steaks my parents gave him for Christmas, to grill. We'll get hamburgers and hot dogs and deli for most of the rest of the trip. Low-effort food. Easy to make, easy to clean up after.

I'll see you on the other side.
