It turns out that - after all the weird problems we had with the taxes this year - Matt and I are due a not-insubstantial refund. (The silver lining to having a mortgage, I suppose.)

Since it's money we were prepared to live without, there was some question as to precisely what to do with it. Some portion of it, of course, will go into our savings account. Probably about half of it. The other half...?

Matt suggested splitting it and calling it "mad money" - which is what he calls money that's for spending frivolously. I'm not opposed to the idea. It's been about nine months since I bought the CD burner, which means I'm getting a little behind in my usual electronics-purchasing schedule.

"You could buy an iPod," Matt said, slyly.

Don't think I haven't thought about it, either. If I got an iPod, I'd have to upgrade my operating system, though - and should I upgrade to OS 9.2, or take the leap and jump all the way to OS X? There are pros and cons either way.

And an iPod would eat up most of my share, while there are other options to consider...

Ah, well, these are the problems I don't mind wrestling with.

In the meantime, it's Friday, and Matt's due home this evening. Yay! And I forgot to make dinner reservations again. (Or rather, I called to make the reservations, and the place was closed, so I made a mental note to call back later and then forgot.) You'd think... Ah, well. We'll figure something out.

And the weekend is always a good thing. A little more sleep, a little more Halling, a little time spent relaxing.

It's supposed to be cooling down around Sunday, so maybe I'll finally get the garden started. I do need to hop to it if I'm going to have a garden this year.

But before that, I need to get some work done...
