2 May 2002 There are things I want to say. There are things I want to say about friendship, and the duties and rights and privileges and responsibilities of being a friend. There are things I want to say about the limits of friendship. There are things I want to say about truth, and the perception of truth. There are things I want to say about cruelty and selfishness. There are things I want to say about personal responsibility, and how it differs from group responsibility. There are things I want to say. I'm not going to say them. I have not yet been forcibly pulled into participating in this argument. I do not want to be. The guilt and the anger and the pain that it is causing are enough without my sharing in them. Nor can I contribute anything useful, other than corroboration and support. But there are things I wish I could say. |
