I have Jedi mind powers!

This morning, after the third time or so the alarm started going off, I looked at Matt and said, "I don't want to go to work."

Matt mumbled, "...don' wanna go t'work..."

I said, "I just want to stay home and sleep."

Matt nodded slightly, pulling the blankets up around his shoulders. "...s'eep..."

See??!? Amazing powers of persuasion! These are not the droids you're looking for!

(It's probably just as well that I don't really have Jedi mind powers, though. I'd probably use them for evil.)

Karen went to see Attack of the Clones last night. K.T. and Kevin are going to a noon showing today.

I'm trying to decide.

I mean, yeah, I'll go. I'm too much of a science fiction fan not to go.

But I'm trying to decide what kind of attitude to go with.

When I went to see Phantom Menace I was very excited. Very hopeful. A little dubious about the enormous marketing that was being done even before the movie was released, but still very hopeful.

The movie was fun, but it wasn't really all that I had come to expect of Star Wars. A bit of a letdown, in fact, despite the very cool and amazing fight scenes and the very pretty CGI.

But this time, I haven't seen quite as much marketing. This time, I haven't seen them hyping a bad guy with awesome makeup who turns out to have only three lines and then ends up dead.

This time, I haven't yet seen any disappointed reviews.

Maybe Phantom was just the victim of nearly twenty years of anticipation. What, after all, could possibly live up to that?

Clones has only been waiting for three years. That's not as much to live up to. And it only has to be better than Phantom to seem very good by comparison.

So maybe I'll hit it with the popcorn-muncher attitude that I reserve for most summer blockbusters, and it'll be a pretty, fun, action-packed adventure.
