Today I am On Display. This month's topic is moving.

Constant motion, even in stillness.

Fingers moving on the keyboard. (Remember being a little kid - too little to know how to make words - but being fascinated by the typewriter. Page after page after page filled with random banging of keys... I remember watching my dad type, and trying to mimic his sure and certain movements, thinking that if I could just concentrate hard enough, I could spill words onto the page, too. My fingers did not move as fast then as they do now.)

Thoughts moving through my mind, plans and plots. (If I go to the store Wednesday after work... I wonder if I should rework the scale on that map... I hope I can pull off this Hall plot... In order to finish this project on time, I'll have to do the biometrics portion today, and... I can't not think. I can't think of nothing.)

Feet moving to the music. (I hope the tax return comes soon, so I can buy myself an iPod.

Hands fidgeting. (Nothing with moving parts is safe, and if I can pick it up, it counts as a moving part. Picking at my cuticles until they bleed - bad habit, but I don't even notice when it starts. I should keep a box of bandaids in my desk.)

Even asleep, I refuse to remain motionless. (The cat sleeps on Matt's side of the bed - Matt's less likely to roll over on him. Whole worlds spin in my mind when I'm asleep - is it any wonder I steal the blankets?)

How can someone so constantly in motion remain so still?
