10 June 2002 Saturday Matt and I were on our way down to Newport News to go to Sam's Club and visit K.T. Matt was driving, and I was looking around idly. We started to pass a car, and I said, "Hey! This guy's got an Apple sticker on his car!" We pulled a little further past him, and I said, "Hey! I think that's Braz!" Sure enough! We pulled in front of him and hoped he'd notice us. Braz told us later, he thought, "Hey! That's a hybrid! Matt has one of tho- Wait! That's Matt!" When we pulled up to the next light, Matt's cell phone rang. After a brief discussion, we learned that Braz was on his way to meet Kris for lunch, and would we like to join them? Well, sure! So we met Braz and Kris for lunch, after which Braz followed us over to Sam's Club and walked around with us. Serendipity. Kind of neat. Matt ordered his new digital camera last week, and spent a couple of days avidly watching Fed Ex's tracking site. Friday at 4:30, which is when Matt usually leaves work, it was still being reported as being on its way. He decided to wait at work until five, in the hopes it would arrive before the weekend. At five, it still hadn't arrived, so Matt dejectedly came home. At about seven, he checked the tracking page again, and it said: "Delivered, 5:30pm." After maybe five whole minutes of waffling, Matt drove up to the office and poked around until he found his box. He spent most of the weekend being a little picture-happy. I expect that will last at least another week or so. Good thing I'm not camera-shy.
Oh, and for those of you who are wondering - the "quest" the couatl laid on Dusk is setup for a plot that won't actually happen for several years. And yes, I'm still working on the story that explains exactly whaddafu was going on. Tarri comes back to Marsember tonight, issues and all. That'll be fun... Well, at least it will be an engaging bit of role-playing. (My iPod and my OS X package have both made it as far as Hampton, according to Fed Ex's tracking site. I'm supposed to be in a meeting at 9:30 that will outline my next bit of project... Fed Ex usually delivers here around 10. Do you think I'm going to be able to pay the slightest bit of attention to this meeting? No. Do you think, if my packages arrive with the Fed Ex truck at 10, that I will get any actual work done today? No.) |
