2 August 2002 I'm less than 200 pages from the end of Cryptonomicon! Whoo! Which means I'll probably finish it this weekend. It's about time... Other people have been waiting to read it, and there are some other books that I want to read. Yesterday is sort of a blur for me. I spent most of the day at work writing, though I did do a little actual work. I went home and read. Partly because I had an idea what I wanted for dinner, and partly because I wasn't home Wednesday and won't be home tonight to cook dinner on "my" night, I took over dinner from Matt for the evening. (I made a sort of dirty rice variant, with bacon and chicken and sausage and onions and sundried tomatoes, all fried up and then cooked with the rice in chicken broth and just a splash of lemon juice. It turned out to be really good, I thought. I'll have to make it again.) I logged into IRC when Matt told me Karen was on. (Jeff had been on all evening, but he was reading, too, and I didn't see much point in logging in to chat if we weren't going to chat.) And that was pretty much my evening. Excitement central. Friday, Friday, Friday, Friday! I just need to slog through the next eight hours. Today's exciting project: Reading manuals and a sample project for the new piece of hardware I got handed yesterday. Whee... But I'm down to K.T.'s tonight to work on the novel, and tomorrow evening we have a Hall session. And somewhere in there I need to remember to spray the weeds in the mulch bed again, because they're getting out of hand. And then I should get the weedkiller/grass fertilizer and spray that on the lawn. (I'm a little trepidacious - half our lawn is weeds!) I meant to do those things last weekend, but rain was threatening, and the weedkillers need 24 hours to soak in. Have a good weekend! |
