14 August 2002

Yesterday was nice. Fairly quiet. I got some more writing done, and Matt and I went out for dinner. We did the grocery shopping, and I got the ingredients to make again that lovely dish I made last week. I may do something radical and weird in the near future, like have my parents over for dinner.

I didn't do much online chat last night, because the discussion of the evening was heavily political.

We all know how I feel about politics.

Work is kind of crawling.

(If you were going to make a printer, and you made it with a pair of sensors that had to be perfectly aligned on top of each other and they were going to be adjustable, don't you think you'd find a way so that when you adjusted one, the other would adjust at the same time? And if, for whatever reason, you couldn't make them adjust as a unit, don't you think you'd at least build the damn things so you could reach both sensors? If I wedge my hand between the print head and the printer ribbon and break a few fingernails, I can just barely move one of the two sensors. I can't even touch the other. I thought maybe it was just that I have short-fingered, fat hands, but even Random, who has long, skinny fingers, could only just barely touch it, and he certainly couldn't get his hand positioned so as to be able to move the damn thing. Lousy design.)

Tonight's plan with K.T. and Kevin is to go see XXX. Mostly because K.T. has the hots for Vin Diesel. I don't get it, personally - I think his face is kind of lumpy-looking - but sure, whatever. I'm going to see neat stunts and special effects.

Ah, well. Time to get some coffee and get on with my day.
