Weekend? What weekend? I know I had one around here somewhere...

K.T. and I, after realizing that we were letting our modern American brains affect our perceptions of distance, decided that we needed to completely rework our map. So that's what we did Friday night.

I had plans to spent most of Saturday Halling, but before that started, Matt and I ran out to do some errands. One errand took us to Lowe's.

It should have been about $25 - we needed a new flag to replace the one that got ripped to shreds in the last storm, and we needed a shower curtain liner, and I needed a piece of plexiglass.

But then we walked by the ceiling fans.

We've been planning on ceiling fans ever since we moved in to the house - every room (except, I think, the kitchen) is wired for them. But we hadn't been able to agree on a style we liked. (Matt hates the lights where you can see the actual bulbs; I think most of the globes are hideously ugly.)

But Saturday at Lowes, they had a fan I actually liked, that had a swirled marble bowl for a globe that was almost iridescent, like mother-of-pearl. I was intrigued, and made Matt stop to look at it with me. He wasn't excited about the iridescence, but we found the same shape of fan in plain white, with longer blades.

"It's Lowe's," I said. "We're not allowed to walk out for less than $150."

"We could try..." Matt said plaintively.

But we bought two fans, one for the living room and one for the bedroom. And then I invited my parents to come over the next day so Dad could help us put them up.

The rest of Saturday was spent Halling.

Sunday was devoted to the ceiling fans, really. Mom and I pretty much just stayed out of the way of Dad and Matt. But whaddya know? By the time we finally sat down to eat at 8, we had ceiling fans!

Of course, I got almost no writing done all weekend. I'm really hoping I'll be able to knock some out this week; I feel like I'm falling behind. Oh, well, these things happen. Before I can get any writing done, I have some actual work to do! (Oh, the horror...)
