13 September 2002 Yup. Definitely a cold, damn it all. And it doesn't have the guts to just come out and be a real cold, either, with a fever and the chills and congestion - the kind where you don't even have to think about whether you're going to call in sick because just reaching for the phone that's right by the bed is almost more effort than you can handle. No, no, what I've got is a more or less continual post-nasal drip that's keeping my throat sore but not otherwise inconveniencing me and a fever less than half a degree above my normal temperature that's making my neck and shoulders ache. Nothing worth staying home over. (Murphy is going to give me strep in the next month or so. You watch.) I want to say it will be a busy weekend, but in truth, all I have to do is some shopping. So it'll be a busy evening tonight, or a busy afternoon tomorrow. One wedding gift and two new-baby gifts. Domesticity abounds. This whole week has been one gigantic hold pattern, at work. I'm exactly where I was last Friday - waiting for Mike to finish his report so we can go over the layouts. I even told the project leader Tuesday morning, and again Wednesday afternoon, that I didn't have any actual work to be doing. So it's not like he thinks I'm still finishing my report, too. Oh, well. I got some good writing done this week. Not a lot - a little over 3,000 words, altogether - but I'm pretty happy with most of it. And I may yet pop out another thousand or so today. We'll see. Right. Time to get some hot tea for my throat, and some breakfast for my growling stomach. Have a good weekend! |
Last Year: - But as it turned out, I was grateful for the work that needed to be done. Even if I couldn't truly focus on it, it gave me - as it were - a distraction from the distractions.
