There was an anecdote I was going to tell, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Neither Matt nor I slept well last night.

I woke up when Matt got up around 5 to put the cat out. I thought briefly about getting up and going outside to see the Leonid shower, but it was very chilly outside the covers, so I just tucked them more firmly around myself and went back to sleep. I dreamed that I did get up to see the shower, but it was more like fireworks. I spent the whole dream running back inside (and in the dream we lived up several flights of stairs) to get Matt, but he would come to the door and say, "You go on, I'll catch up in a little bit," and go back inside.

Matt had a dream that the power had gone out, but when he looked at his watch it was only 2am. He thought, Oh, good, I can get some more sleep. And then the alarm went off.

Neither of us got out of bed for almost an hour, though. It was just too warm and snuggly in the bed.

Matt downloaded the Maztica boxed set from TSR's free downloads site last night, and gave it to me on a Zip disk this morning. I brought it in to work with me, and skimmed bits of it.

The dilemma: I could fit my character concept into the official TSR Maztica without too much effort, but their magic system is different, and their workup of the gods would require some changes. Do I change my character to fit the official system, or leave it the way it is and just use the boxed set materials for maps and a vague guideline?

Or perhaps a synthesis - if I scrap their weird magic system (which would just be a hassle for me and K.T.) and use their gods with the understanding that the description in the boxed set is tainted by an outsider's bias (no, as a matter of fact, the gods that demand occasional human sacrifice are not necessarily evil, no matter what the writeup says) then it might be workable.

Of course, it's not my game. I'll have to see what K.T. thinks.

Gods, I so do not want to be at work today. I'm fighting a weird moodswing thing, and I'm supposed to go back on a project I really don't want to be on. Oracle. Bah.

On the other hand, I'll get to spend the whole morning installing things, so I'll get to spend some quality time with the fish.

At least they love me.
