It snowed Thursday night - quite a bit, for this area. We got five or six inches of accumulation, and while we probably could have gotten out and to work with only a minimum of difficulty, Matt and I both decided to take advantage of the excuse and stay home for the day. And since both our offices gave us Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, that got us a four-day weekend. Whoo! It felt really good to spend the weekend lounging around watching movies and generally being lazy. I went over to K.T.'s Friday evening, and after negotiating a skating-rink parking lot, we finished editing Chapter One of the novel (with a break, of course, to stop and watch Presidio Med). Saturday evening we met my parents for Dad's birthday dinner. Dad had a coupon for Steak and Ale, so we wound up over there with fairly good food and a really fantastic waitress. Before dinner, Matt and I stopped at Best Buy so I could use a gift card that had been burning a hole in my pocket. The two movies that I'd walked into the store planning to buy were both out of stock (of course) so I bought some others instead. Sunday we sat around watching movies, then went over to K.T.'s for dinner. We brought the makings for cream of reuben soup (I always forget how expensive that soup is to make until I make it again) and put it all together at K.T.'s. And then yesterday, being a holiday, we pretty much just sat on our duffs and watched movies and read and were generally lazy. It felt lovely. But boy oh boy do I wish I weren't back at work today. It's supposed to snow again this week, but unless we really can't get the cars out of the driveway, I don't think we can get away with another snow day. Alas. |
