Okay, so I was wrong yesterday when I said nothing exciting would happen at the doctor's office. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat, which was extremely cool. Matt had the best sound comparison for it: he said it was like listening to someone try to tune in a very static-y radio station. Rhythmically. Of course, some of the hissing/static noise was probably due to the amplifiers on the listening device. But it was still a pretty accurate description of the sound. Boy, oh boy did I get to have fun at work yesterday. Earlier in the week, I pulled a whole bunch of peer review reports. Each report consists of anywhere from 2-4 documents. Each document consists of 1-5 pages, stapled together, and then all the documents in the report are paperclipped together. So, on average, each report had about twelve pages, three staples, and a paperclip. (Actually, two paperclips, but I won't get into that because, no doubt, I'm already boring you silly.) I had twenty of these reports. And I needed a photocopy of every one. So for each report I had to un-clip them, remove the staples (so much for my fingernails - even with a staple-remover to loosen them, picking them out was still a bitch), run the report through the copier, and then re-staple the individual documents. I'm only lucky our copier has a feed-tray on it, or I might still be in there, individually copying some 200 pages... And then, since I had the copies of the reports, I had to re-file all the originals. Imagine my excitement and joy. Today I get to start winnowing the reports for data. I expect that to be 1) more interesting and 2) less hazardous to my fingernails. At least, if it isn't any more interesting, I'll be sitting at my computer doing it instead of standing over the copier. Yes, yes, I know it's a boring entry. Stop whining, or I'll be forced to tell you about trying to shop for maternity clothes. I thought so. |
Last Year: Yes, indeed, I am veritably swimming in dorkitude. Let's take a look, shall we?
