3 March 2003

There. I know you're all grateful to be rid of the hot pink February background.

It's almost unbelievable, what great mood I'm in today. No doubt the weekend had something to do with that.

My dad came over Saturday to help Matt put some flooring in the attic so we can use it for storage. (I wrote a blog entry about it, if you're curious.)

That afternoon and evening, K.T. and I edited. We're getting better and better. This time, we got through three chapters in just slightly less than five hours. (Though we're not going to move up to three chapters every week. That was just to get us caught up after doing only one chapter last week.)

And after we edited, Matt met us at Ruby Tuesday's for dinner, which was fun.

Sunday, we were Lazy. We did the laundry, and I did my editing, but other than that we pretty much just lazed around the house all day. The weather was so nice that we opened the windows for a few hours in the afternoon, and no doubt the fresh air was good for me. And I caught a nap in the afternoon, which was also probably good for me.

Nothing special, really. Just a nice, homey weekend.

But why should I complain? I'll take good moods however they come.

Now that the attic is finished, though, we're going to start having to actually put stuff in it. Which means we're going to have to start packing up stuff that we want to go up there.

Matt suggested that we try to make an effort to do at least one getting-ready-for-baby task each weekend, whether that was packing up the comics, or re-arranging furniture, or preparing to paint... This weekend I think we're going to start packing books (to go into the attic) and comics (to get rid of).

Which means we'll want to remember, when we go to the grocery store this week, to ask for all paper bags. Books are heavy, and a paper bag full of them is about the most I want Matt to be hoisting up into the attic at a time. And I'll need mothballs, or the equivalent, so silverfish don't get into the stored books and eat them. I'm not sure how we're going to pack the comics, yet. The ones that fit into the comic boxes can probably just stay in those boxes, but we have way more comics than that, and it seems ridiculous to buy more comic boxes just so we can pack them up and donate them to the local literacy foundation.

I'd draw up a list, but I don't know how much good it would do. And seeing everything left that needs to be done might be depressing. Better just to take things one week at a time.
