26 March 2003

Toward the end of the evening last night, my eyes felt swollen and dry and itchy. Allergies. I was a little nonplussed - I don't usually have too many problems with K.T. and Kevin's cats. But maybe I had done something stupid without thinking about it, like petting Sterling and then rubbing my eyes.

This morning, I found the culprit: When Matt and I left the house, my car was covered with a fine layer of yellow pollen.

I thought, Oh.

So I'll be taking a Sudafed along with my breakfast this morning, and stumbling through the day with a brain about two beats behind. But it's better than sneezing messily on my co-workers.

Work is slow at the moment. It's a "calm before the storm" kind of thing, I think, as three projects are about to go into full psychotic-imminent-deadline mode. But that doesn't change the fact that I spent most of yesterday twiddling my thumbs.

If that weren't bad enough, they've put a filter on our browsers at work. I think. At least, I can get to all the main news and technology sites without any trouble, but comics and personal pages get me an internal server error.

On the other hand, Random says he can get to some comics and game pages, but only intermittently - and he couldn't get through to CNN. Which is why I'm not 100% sure about the filter.

Whether it's deliberate or not, though, it's still kind of annoying. I brought a book with me, but that definitely doesn't look like work when people stroll by my office.

Not much to talk about today. Sorry. Too allergy-laden to concentrate.

But the weather is beautiful. Get up from the computer and go frolic.

Last Year: Just in case you were curious, this morning's journal entry is being written to the musical accompaniment of my MP3 player's randomizer, set at twice its usual volume in an effort to block out the world's most annoying and irregular computer noise, which is coming from the locked room next door.
