2 April 2003

We went down to K.T. and Kevin's last night, but K.T. had a sore throat, so we didn't game. Instead, we ate turkey (K.T. gets cravings for it every summer; it came a bit early this year) and chocolate cake (happy birthday, Kevin!) and watched Shrek and just talked. It was nice.

I'm taking my car back in to the dealership today so they can make the warning light go out again. And this had better be the last time, at least for a good long while, dammit.

I'm taking it in at about 3:30, so by the time Matt gets off from work at 4:30, I should know whether he needs to stop by the dealership on his way home (he passes it every day, so it's not exactly a hardship for him) or if I'll get the car back tonight.

I wouldn't even mind letting them keep it for a day or two while they figure it out. I've still got my old car, after all. It wouldn't be a hardship. I just want the new car fixed, so I can go to the DMV and the county offices, and then get the old car inspected so I can sell it and get it out of the driveway and off my insurance.

Y'all keep your fingers crossed for me.

It occurred to me this morning that I haven't done any pictures lately, and I haven't bragged about my tulips, so the rest of today's entry will be a photograph extravaganza! Click on the picture to see it full-sized.

This is actually a red tulip, but it won't darken until it fully opens.

This was one of the first tulips to mature. Pretty, isn't it?

The first bunch of tulips. I planted three groupings, all at the same time. This group opened first, for reasons I'm sure I'll never understand. They're also shorter than I thought they would be; the stems are only about eight inches.

My beloved sweet-smelling grape hyacinths.

I was afraid they weren't going to bloom this year; I didn't see the buds at all, and then one day - ta-daa! flowers.

Our Japanese maple is just starting to open its leaves. I thought this branch looked lovely against the sky this morning.

This is just a flowering weed that's trying to take over the porch mulch bed, but it's pretty anyway.
