Three-quarters of the way through the pregnancy! Whoo!

And here we go with the busiest of our pre-baby months. We've got an infant care class at the hospital every Thursday night for the next three weeks. We've got a Lamaze class, also at the hospital, every Sunday night for the next six weeks. The baby shower is this month, and there will also be one ultrasound and two regular trips to the OB. Oh, and I've got a dentist appointment.

The Lamaze teacher called last night to make sure we were still going to come to the class and to make sure we'd come prepared.

"For the first five weeks, you need to wear something loose and comfortable, like you'd wear to exercise in. Sweats or shorts or something like that. The sixth week you can wear a dress and heels if you want, but the other five weeks we'll be moving around and doing things." Yeah, right. Like, six weeks from now when I'm eight months pregnant, I'm going to want to wear a dress and heels. Heh.

"And you need to bring a comforter or sleeping bag or exercise mat. And three or four pillows. It'll look like you're going camping." When I first signed up, I was told two pillows. Sheesh. But, okay, fine. We can raid both beds for pillows and take the comforter off the guest bed. No sweat. Won't that be fun, carrying all that stuff from the car up to the maternity ward where the class is?

"The class runs every Sunday for the next six weeks, including Father's Day... You can just tell Dad that this is the first of many sacrifices he'll have to make." I laughed and told her that he's been putting up with Pregnant-Me for the last six months, so it was far from the first.

She seemed nice enough, but she was loud. I was holding the phone two inches from my ear. Ah, well, I guess I won't have any trouble hearing her in the class.

My parents dropped by yesterday to deliver the crib and mattress. I thought they'd go ahead and assemble the darned thing while they were there - when they called to say they were coming with it, I was gleefully imagining a picture with today's entry.

Then Matt said, "Where do you want to put the crib, for now?"

I just blinked at him. Was this a trick question?

Eventually, we got it figured out. It turns out that Matt is thinking he wants to paint the nursery - a question which I had thought was settled months ago, on "no." So he didn't want to assemble the crib. Makes sense, of course, but I hadn't realized he was still thinking about painting.

Of course, since I'd like the bulk of preparation to be done by mid-July, in case she decides to make an early entrance, then we need to hurry up if we're going to paint. Because the painting will need to be done by the end of June so we have a couple of weeks in July to assemble furniture.

So I guess sometime this weekend Matt and I need to grab one of the decorations we've already got (the lampshade, perhaps) and go over to the paint store and pick out a color. Buy a gallon of paint (Or maybe two - Dad says he's sure one gallon will paint the room, but I really don't want to have to go back to the store with half a wall left to go) and rollers and edgers and trays and masking tape and such. (At least we already have a couple of old sheets that can be used as drop cloths.)

And then I'm going to step back and let Matt paint. I'm sure he can get my dad to come over and help, or Braz or someone. I don't really want to get up on a ladder (ooh, I guess we'll need to borrow an A-frame ladder, since an extension ladder isn't really useful for painting) with my current lack of balance, and I can't help but so much with edging since bending over is such a chore these days.

See yesterday's blog entry for another babyish anecdote.

In the world of non-baby stuff, small as it is for us these days...

K.T. and I are looking at only two more weeks of editing before the novel is done. Well, the chapter-by-chapter editing will be done, anyway. After that, we'll take a week or two off, and then in July we'll both do a complete read-through and make note of any final changes that are needed. And then K.T. will put together a proposal package (while I'm in the last weeks of pregnancy or the early weeks of new motherhood) for us to send to publishers.

I made no progress on the photo album on Friday - after declaring it would be a slow day, six documents had to cross my desk and be out the door by that afternoon. I did make some good progress over the weekend, but I don't have anything to upload yet. I'm hoping today will be slower, and I'll be able to get the last of the pictures converted. We'll see how it goes, though. I did find some other older pictures that I'll probably be adding today.

I'm feeling surprisingly awake and happy for a Monday. Let's hope it stays that way, huhn?
