Penny declined to sleep through again last night. In fact, she went so far as to wake up for a second time at 5:30. If I was still nursing her in the mornings, that would've been up for the day, but since a bottle takes only about ten minutes (as opposed to about half an hour) I put her back to bed when it was done so that I could get another half-hour of sleep.

I keep trying to remind myself that it will come, someday. If nothing else, she will eventually be big enough to get her own midnight snack, if she persists in waking up at 2:30 in the morning.

The funny thing is, I ought to be looking forward to my trip at the end of the month, if only as the first opportunity I've had in five months to sleep for eight straight hours - but I know damned well I'll wake up anyway.

I'm hanging in a kind of limbo at work. I'm assuming the full duties of the QA manager, as planned, but I have yet to hear that I actually am the QA manager, much less whether any sort of (ahem) pay raise is on the horizon.

On the plus side, I might be getting a new office again soon. One of our senior managers left to transfer to another office, so there's some office-shuffling being planned. No one's said for sure whether I'll eventually be moving into what is currently my supervisor's office, but I hope I do. My current office was being used for storage before I moved in, and it still looks like it. And my desk, while a big step up from the mere table I had as a developer, is still kind of crappy. As much paperwork as I have to do, it would be nice to get a desk that can store file folders.

I've been doing some pretty good writing lately. Not as high in volume as before Penny was born, but a bit higher quality, I think. It feels good to stretch the brain a little.

Even if I'm doing it when I should be doing other work...
