I think I'll take the Sleepwatch out of the sidebar at the end of the month. Penny's been sleeping through the night for a full week now, so Matt and I are pretty sure she's got the hang of it, at least until something comes along to disrupt things, like another bad virus. Or teething. Sleepwatch shows how much sleep I got, but since Penny is/was the major deterrant to my sleep, there doesn't seem much point in continuing it if she's sleeping fairly well. It may even be that, as she continues to sleep, Matt and I might feel brave enough to do things that require staying up a little later. Like watch Laurence of Arabia, which is the three-and-a-half hour movie he's had from Netflix since October. (We'll still probably watch it in two parts. Penny doesn't go to bed until about 8:15 or 8:30. Even with her sleeping through the night, I don't know that I'm brave enough to stay up until midnight.) It should be a fairly relaxed weekend. We're going out to dinner tonight with some friends, and Sunday is my dad's birthday, so we'll be having dinner with the family (though whether we're eating at their house or going out hasn't yet been decided). Dad decided that for his birthday, he'd like Matt and I to upgrade his Mac to OS X, give him a tutorial in how it works, get his new scanner set up and working, and put together a base website for the tags he makes for Boy Scouts. Obviously, that can't all be accomplished in one day. Especially not since (at least, the last time I checked) he didn't have the slightest idea what his password was for his internet account (this is why I refuse to use Keychain or allow any of my internet programs "remember" my passwords - I'd forget them all inside of a week), so we won't be able to upload the files for the website. (Note to self: Bring along a copy of Transmit.) My dad used to be a computer programmer, but that was over a decade ago. He's kind of let the newer (read, everything since the advent of the internet) slip past him, and only learned what he absolutely had to, to keep up with his job. So teaching him new things is always a challenge, even when he wants to learn them. Add to that the fact that he hates to wear his glasses, so he keeps his 19" monitor set at an eyeball-busting 640x480 resolution (no, really. individual pixels the size of my fingernails), and Matt and I are sure to be in for a fun time. Ah, well, that's why it's his birthday present, and not something we're doing for our own amusement. |
Last Year: Either way, it will be nice to have a place to stuff all of our... stuff.
