Right around midnight last night, Penny stirred, then woke up crying. Matt and I both jolted upright, of course.

In the time it took me to grab my pants and pull them on, however - she'd stopped.

I went to the door of her room and stood there for a few minutes. She shifted and squirmed, and made a few little noises, but didn't start crying again.

Matt and I went back to bed. She woke up again an hour later, but that was kind of neat.

Doctor's appointment yesterday. She's still good and healthy. She'd gained three pounds - 20 pounds, now - and three inches, too, bringing her up to 27. (Though I'm a little dubious about the three inches. Babies are hard to measure, being as squirmy as they are, and when I stood her up on the floor next to her growth chart, it looked more like 26 inches, to me.)

We'll be expecting some bottom teeth in the next two months, according to the doctor's casual appraisal. Imagine my excitement. Oh, well, I suppose it's better than if she never gets teeth.

And then they gave her some vaccination shots, which made her kind of fussy for the rest of the evening.

The next appointment won't be until she's nine months old. No shots at that one, though. Whoo! No more icky shots for another half a year!

Things are getting kind of busy at work. I don't know if I've really picked up that much extra work from my boss, now that I'm the QA manager, or if it's just one of those busy cycles, but I have lots of work to do.

Which is kind of nice - I hate being bored.

And at the same time, it's a little frustrating. I've got several good scenes worked out in my head for the novel, and I want to get them down. But it's almost pointless to try to write at home, and if I'm busy at work, then that doesn't leave me with much time for writing.

Alas.
