Fast-fast-fast. I'm not going to be online much during the day today. I've got a phone meeting from 8:30 to 10. And then another one from 10 - 11:30. I get an hour and a half break for lunch, and then I've got a meeting that I'm in charge of for what looks like it may be at least two hours. Possibly two and a half or three. There's a lot to cover, and some of the guys here, well... the phrase "beating a dead horse" comes to mind. So it's not going to be a very productive day. Meeting Hell days never are. (Someone remind me why I accepted this managerial position?) Penny was absolutely and positively wonderful last night, which was a real treat. She's usually a pretty happy baby, but she does tend to get a little grumpy toward the end of the evening as she starts to get tired. Not yesterday. Yesterday, everything was wonderful and exciting. Everything brought a smile to her face. I put her in the saucer while I did some chores, and she played happily, and every time I came to check on her, she put on her Biggest Smile Ever (tm) and was so! happy to see me! But she didn't fuss when I went back to the chores, either; she just went back to playing cheerfully. She ate most of a jar of sweet potatoes, which is an improvement - previously she'd only take about half a jar - and so I felt confident postponing her evening bottle for almost an hour. (I'm trying to put some distance between the solid meal and the bottle so that she starts to get the idea that she should fill up on the solids. The idea is to eventually phase out that evening bottle entirely.) And then Matt took her upstairs and changed her into her sleeper, and I held her while he ate his dinner, and she had been so happy and so bouncy all day, apparently, that with hardly any fuss at all, she conked out on my lap around 7:30. And then slept until around 3, when Matt and I discovered that (goofy girl) she had managed to turn herself around again. (This morning, as she was just waking up but before she got fussy about it, Matt kept sneaking into her room to peek at her, trying to catch her at it.) And she was the Happiest Baby Ever again this morning. Days like that make up for the days when everything is Wrong. |
