I tried to give Penny some chicken last night.

She took about three dubious bites (liberally interspersed with her favorite food, squash), and then developed a serious case of lockjaw. She refused to open her mouth even for the squash for almost five minutes after that. Finally, I was able to coax her to finish off the squash, at least, but it looks like chicken is just as much of a failure as the peas were.

Now the question is, do I attempt a different meat (turkey, say, since that's about the only other stage-one meat available that I can find) or do I give up on meat entirely for the nonce and just concentrate on fruits and sweet vegetables?

It doesn't matter too much, really. She's still getting 90% of her actual nutrients from formula. It's just a matter of deciding how much I want to fight it.

My boss came into my office just a bit ago. "Did you drop this on your way in?" He held up my keychain drive.

Ack! There are three pieces to the drive - the drive itself, the cap that covers the USB plug, and the actual keychain bit. It's the keychain bit that broke (well, actually bent, but you don't really want me to go into that much detail, I'm sure) and so now I have to figure out how to haul my drive around without having it on my keychain.

Maybe I'll switch back to a slightly larger purse and keep it in there. I've been thinking of getting a bigger purse for a while, now - I got the small one on the theory that it would fit reasonably into the diaper bag along with all of Penny's stuff, but in practice, I rarely bother to put it in there. And anyway, just lately (since we've had to start packing toys as well as diapers, and jars of food in addition to bottles and formula) there isn't enough room for my purse in the diaper bag.

So if I'm carrying a separate purse anyway, I might just as well use one that I like better, right?

Time to go shopping!

(But in the meantime, I should probably put my name on the damn keychain drive, so it can be returned to me if it's lost again. I shudder to think what my boss would've thought if he'd loaded it up and looked at the files... Most of them are innocent, but every now and then I write erotica, and some of that is stored on the drive.)
