5 April 2004

Hoo. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before that I hate daylight savings, right? Yeah. Hate it. Stupid, pointless, irritating...

It's even worse with a baby on hand. At least when the cat refused to make the switch, we could just lock him in the bathroom while we got an extra hour of sleep.

We went down to visit K.T. and Kevin on Saturday. It's just about an hour drive from our house to their new apartment - that's with more or less reasonable traffic except where they're doing road repairs. Once they're done with the road repairs, we'll shave off another ten minutes.

I think we're going to want to do most of our future visits with them in the early afternoon, though, so we can try to leave before five. If Penny naps much after six, she won't go to bed.

I knew when we planned to go down there that Penny would most likely fall asleep in the car on the way home and that it would make it hard to put her to bed. But I hadn't really counted on her being up until ten, and then sleeping restlessly all night and waking up again at five.

We did discover a very lovely restaurant right around the corner from their place, though, so that was good. And even though we've chatted online, it was nice to see K.T. in person.

I'd like to be able to visit with them at least once a month. We're going back down in a couple of weeks for their housewarming and combined birthdays. And then in May, we'll invite them up. Just to share the driving around a little.

I made a very interesting discovery this weekend, though.

I no longer hate bell peppers. If they're cooked, I can eat green peppers without gagging, and I even like yellow ones.

I knew that I'd lost my distaste for peppers while I was pregnant, but I hadn't really tried any since Penny was born, on the assumption that it was a Weird Pregnancy Food Thing. But apparently not. Apparently, my tastes have in fact changed.

Yay, another vegetable added to the list of things Matt and I are both willing to eat!

I hope I get my work computer back soon. I've got a whole bunch of pictures I want to post, and a very cute movie of Matt singing "Rubber Ducky" to Penny in the bathtub that I'm sure Jill will go gaga over.

I guess if I don't get my computer back soon, I'll have to see about installing the necessary software on the temporary computer.
