The good news: Penny's fever broke last night, and did not reappear this morning. The bad news: You know how, when you've been feverish, and the fever finally breaks (usually in the middle of the night) you spend the next several hours feeling nasty and sweaty and thirsty and achey? Yeah. Penny was up at least four times last night. At two of those wake-ups, she was hungry, or at least thirsty. It was a very rough night. So I'm floating high on sleep-dep this morning, and praying please o gods let her get well and for petesake sleep tonight. And late tomorrow morning, too. I'm not asking for much, I don't think. Just a nice, solid eleven hours of sleep. Say, from 8pm to 7am. (But just between you and me and the rosebush, I'd settle for her only waking up once.) My mom is over at our house to take care of Penny today. (Yes, I know her fever broke. But daycare rules are that she has to have a temperature of 100 or lower for at least 24 hours before she can go back. Barring other mishaps, she'll be back Monday, but today she has to stay home.) Dad is out of town today for some scout thingy, so I told Mom we'd have dinner together. Now I have to decide whether to cook (it would be a nice solution to the odd number of pork chops I've got in the freezer) or if I want to go out instead. (Given my state of sleep deprivation, I'm currently leaning toward going out, and damn the odd pork chop, but my conscience may kick in if I wake up a little this afternoon. We'll see.) |
