Penny's nine-month checkup is this afternoon. This one, thank goodness, requires no shots. She'll just be weighed and measured and have her eyes and ears and such looked at, and then Matt and I will pull out our accumulated list of questions and the doctor will tell us that none of them are anything to worry about except maybe the frequent ear infections.

I'm very curious to know how tall she is, because - as I keep saying - it seems she's really shot up in the last month or so, since she learned to stand. And I want to see if her weight is beginning to level off at all (even if it's just come down from the 95th percentile to the 90th) now that she's crawling and standing and trying to learn how to walk and eating more solid food and less formula.

Though we did not do so well on the solid food last night. I thought I'd try her on some Stage 3 food - that is, food with actual small chunks in it. What we tried last night was macaroni and cheese, with actual little mushy pasta bits in it. Matt gave her about four spoonfuls, I think, before one of the pasta bits lodged in the back of her throat, and she gagged and threw up. (I swear, the child has a gag reflex like a professional bulemic.)

Not ready for the food with Actual Texture yet, I guess. Ah, well.

Though the really cool thing about Penny's appointment this afternoon is that I get to leave work an hour early.

Whoo!
