I actually got some writing done yesterday. Ah, that felt good, because my brain was itching somethin' fierce, and it just wouldn't come out last week.

I think that was because of the Stupid Spreadsheet. I can be creative, or I can be organized and logical, but I can't do both at the same time, and I need some time - hours or days, depending on just how tired I am and which direction I'm going - to switch from one to the other.

So I'm meeting with someone in an hour to start going over the Stupid Spreadsheet and try to figure out how to answer the questions I generated, and to fill in the blanks that I wanted some help with, and that kind of thing.

I'm hoping that we can keep it relatively brief, that I can sort of turn over all the work I did and explain my questions and the gaps and the holes, and then say, "Okay, it's your turn now," and turn the whole mess over to him for a round.

It's not very likely, though. So I'm anticipating at least two hours spent in this meeting, maybe the whole morning.

Which significantly reduces my chances of getting any writing done this afternoon. But we'll see. There's always hope.

Penny was so tired last night that we changed her for bed at 7:30. After I'd read her a couple of books, and Matt had read her a book, when he pulled out Goodnight Moon and started it, she started fussing and crying and trying to squirm off his lap.

After three attempts to re-settle her in the crook of his arm, Matt said, "Fine. We'll skip the book. Time for bed!" and took her upstairs.

And as soon as he put her in her crib, she stopped fussing. She reached for her blanket, and he gave it to her. She cuddled it and nummed on it, and went right to sleep.

And here we thought she was objecting to Goodnight Moon because it signalled the approach of bedtime. When what she really was saying was, "Yes! Bed! Hurry up! Let's go, already!"

And I would encourage her to go to bed at 7:30 more often, except that means that she's up at 5 or 5:15, like this morning, and it's kind of kicking my butt. I'm gonna have me a wicked coffee habit if this keeps up.

Not to mention it kicks Penny's butt. When she's up that early, she tends to get tired and fussy again before it's time to leave for work/school. Which is just frustrating.

Ah, well. At least she slept through the night. Two months ago - hell, two weeks ago - I'd have given up a lot in order to get six hours of uninterrupted sleep.
