Happy Summer Solstice! The weekend... Meh. It wasn't awful, but it could've been better. FedEx balked at sending Matt one of his Father's Day presents to his office, and then never called me back to arrange for proper delivery. Matt had to work most of Saturday. Penny was extra-tired all day Sunday, and therefore kind of fussy. But I managed to get some errands run, and it was nice to see my parents and my brother and sister-in-law, and Matt seemed to enjoy the presents that I did have for him (sent via USPS, not FedEx) so it wasn't all bad. Something I've been pondering... Every so often, I'll follow a link to someone's journal and it turns out that they have a blog, too. And they'll make reference to one from the other. Like, "My blog readers already know the big news!" And it kind of makes me crazy. Especially when they don't bother to link to the specific blog entry in question. But really, I don't like it even when they do. I hate flipping back and forth. And then I was reading last year's June entries for my journal, and I do it, too. I give the links. But I make people flip over to the blog to see what I'm talking about, rather than talk about something twice. Oops. So now I'm faced with a question: What do I do? I could quit this journal, and start doing my daily posts in the blog. That would, incidentally, probably eventually culminate in my moving this entire journal over to confusticate, which hosts HouseOfBrooks, and closing down my long-standing yeehaw address. Moving everything would be a lot of work, though, especially if I wanted to make sure all the navigation links worked. I could quit the blog, and just try to remember to make better notes for anecdotes to go in this journal. That doesn't really feel right, though. Blogging is easier, and allows more feedback, and adapts fairly well to both long and short entries. I could keep both, but specialize the content so that I never had to reference one from the other. That might please people who actually like reading both. It would be hard to force myself not to comment on "journal things" in the blog, but I could do it. I haven't decided anything yet, but I'm leaning toward the first option, depsite the fact that the third would be easier and would probably please more people. But I'm still thinking. I'd love your opinion. |
