It doesn't feel like a Friday.

I've got a doctor's appointment at 9, which is sort of inconvenient, as it splits my morning right in half and more or less guarantees I'll get nothing done on either side of it.

I've got a very mild headache from my new glasses prescription. It's not very bad - more pressure than actual ache, but it's more or less constant. I'm supposed to wait until I've had the glasses for a week or ten days before taking them back and complaining, though.

It's a gym day, and I'm trying to figure out where to fit it in... and not having a lot of luck. I suppose I could always go after I've been to the doctor, before lunch, since no work is going to happen anyway.

Neither Matt nor I slept very well last night. I think we were both a bit restless, and every time one of us managed to sink into a deeper sleep, the other would start tossing and turning and screw it all up. That's probably contributing to the headache.

So it doesn't really feel very Friday-ish at the moment. More like a Tuesday, really.

Positive, positive...

My doctor's appointment is at 9:00, the first appointment of the day, so maybe it won't take forever. I can dream.

I actually got a bit of writing done yesterday - on the bit I'm supposed to be writing on, even, which I haven't managed for something like three months. I swear, I ought to start tracking my daily word counts again.

And yesterday after work, I sat out on our deck with a book and read for something like an hour. I had cucumber slices to snack on, and the breeze ruffled my hair pleasantly, and it was really a fantastic way to spend an hour.

Daycare reported that Penny was taking occasional unassisted steps through the day, and charging all over with their walkie-toy. She took another step for Matt and I this morning. She's still very uncertain about it, and would much rather have something to hold on to, but she keeps trying, so I expect we may very well have her walking at least a bit in time for her birthday.

It's too soon to know for certain yet, but it seems to me that Penny is a little less hysterical when she first wakes up in the mornings, the last few days. Matt and I have wondered if her tendancy to always wake up crying is related to her ears. We may never know. But the last several mornings, we've heard her babbling normally to herself for a bit before she even starts to get fussy.

Matt's mom is coming to town Sunday and will stay with us for a few days. She's really coming to visit Penny - she even said as much to Matt - but that means she's already volunteered to babysit so Matt and I can have some more time off together. Maybe we'll play hooky from work and go catch a matinee.

(That means I may or may not be posting early next week. Don't panic! I'll be back!)
