31 August 2004

POOF! August is nearly gone, just like that. What the heck happened?

I need to do some serious shopping in the next few days. I need to get birthday presents for my mom and my brother, and I need to find a dress to wear to both Evan and Rachael's weddings.

I hate shopping for clothes. Ah, well, at least there's a good reason for it. The only nice dress I have that would fit decently is black. And you just don't wear black (or white, for that matter) to a wedding if you're a guest. All my other dresses are too casual and too spring-y, and they're all too big.

I sat down in the manager's meeting yesterday and looked over my work schedule for the week, and was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was not very full.

A handful of documents to review, most of which aren't very challenging. Another document that I need to write/revise. A few hours' work should be done on the Project of Hate and the Spreadsheet of Doom. And there's a couple of hours' worth of administrivia that accompanies the beginning of each month.

I sketched out a rough work plan, and came to the conclusion that I can get most of my work done in the mornings, leaving me the bulk of the afternoons free to write. It's a luxury I haven't had for a while, and I'm really hoping to take full advantage of it.

Next week's schedule is similarly light, but I'll only be in the office for two days, as Monday is a holiday, and we're leaving Thursday for Chicago.

I'm feeling good, today.

Penny was in a good mood this morning, the weather was pretty on my drive in, the radio DJs were not being especially Stupid...

I just feel good. It's nice.
