A slow work week is bad for my diet. It means that I have too many opportunities to have just one more cup of coffee, and wander by the kitchen and see the treats someone's brought in. I lost weight in Chicago, and this morning I'm back where I started.

BAH.

No snacking today! I mean it!

We'll see how well that goes.

Penny pitched another temper tantrum last night - she wanted to go outside, and because it was dark and raining, we wouldn't let her. It helped that she was being pretty clear about what it was she wanted, so we knew her wailing wasn't due to something serious.

I mostly ignored it, while Matt tried to distract her, but we did not give in. Yay, us!

Though we did collapse later and let her have a bottle instead of her sippy-cup at dinner. But that's okay. She doesn't have to be weaned next week or anything. I think as long as we're consistently offering the cup first, she'll get the idea.

Several friends have switched their internet service to DSL in the last week or so.

I'm tempted. Sorely tempted. It wouldn't be as fast as cable, but the local cable company is a bad whore - which is to say they blow, they bite, and they overcharge for the privelege. And anything would have to beat our sad little modem connection. Matt and I seem to always be asking each other, "Are you downloading something? I can't get my email."

And DSL would only be $30 or $40 a month, which is about what we're paying for the modem's phone line anyway, so we could turn that off and have a faster connection for just about the same price.

But Braz says he's having trouble getting the DSL modem to play nicely with his AirPort base station, so we'll probably dither on the issue for a while, yet.

Maybe we'll give it until the new year, and after we see how the others are doing and what issues they've had, we can give ourselves DSL as a late Christmas present. Or something.
